Jamie Jake McCoy was raised in Midland, Texas and was born on July 21, 1987. As a senior at Lee High School, Jamie McCoy rushed for 1,482 yards, had 24 touchdowns, 167 carries and 1,103 passing yards. Just a few of the many honors McCoy received were all-district, District 3-5A Offensive MVP and honorable mention Class 5A all-state.
In 2005, the 6’3” 224 lbs quarterback joined the Texas A&M football team and was redshirted his first year. In 2006, Jamie McCoy rushed for 68 yards and made one touchdown. Jamie McCoy tied for the Aggies rushing lead with 42 yards. In 2007, #4 was converted from a quarterback to a wide receiver. Jamie McCoy played in five games during that season. In 2008, as a tight end Jamie McCoy caught 43 pass for 500 yards and five touchdowns. When Texas A&M played Iowa State Cyclones, Jamie McCoy caught seven passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
