In 2008 the University of Texas A&M added Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Joe Kines to its Aggies football program. Although, he was hesitant at first Head Coach Mike Sherman convinced Joe Kines that he should be a part of his coaching staff. Other members of the staff, including Aggies safeties coach Van Malone have noted that Joe Kines is a great communicator and he truly has the ability to make his players listen.

Coach Kines resume is impressive to say the least and not only includes college coaching positions at Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, Clemson and Jacksonville but also includes a stint in the professional arena as a coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During his time in the NFL, Coach Joe Kines worked with the linebackers giving him great experience and perspective to work as the defensive coordinator for the Aggies.
